CANCELLED – Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning (LAMP)

This 2-day training will explore LAMP, an augmentative alternative communication (AAC) approach designed to give individuals who are nonverbal a method of independently and spontaneously expressing themselves through a speech-generating device. This course will cover the components of LAMP: readiness to learn, engaging the learner through joint engagement, and learning language through a unique and consistent motor plan paired with an auditory signal and a natural consequence.
Day One will look at the theory behind LAMP and the core components.
Day Two will cover hands-on with Word for Life language systems, following LAMP principles with device implementation, advancing communication, and therapy supports across environments.
Audience: Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), Special and General Education Teachers, and Parents of students who are utilizing or beginning to utilize LAMP.
Location: CIU 10 Centre County
Dates: March 28-29, 2022
Cost: $170/person includes lunch, 10 Act 48 hours, 1 ASHA CEU. Participants must attend both days.
