This Diverse Families video, provides an overview of diverse families, specifically the importance of recognizing and making ALL families welcome in your classroom. The items in your kit will help you have conversations and present learning opportunities with the children in your classroom on cultural and racial diversity, as well as diversity within family types. Topics like gender, race, and sexual orientation are often conversations we shy away from with adults and do not talk about at all with young children. However, it’s important for us to have these conversations with our children as we are trusted adults in their lives. In this video we will go over the items in your kit and give you examples of how you can use them in your classroom.
