Secondary Reading Competition
Each fall, the CIU10 will host a Reading Competition for secondary school students. Questions are based on a maximum of 25 age-appropriate books which the students read during the academic year. Students are given the opportunity to compete against one another, in teams, to see who can correctly answer the most questions about the books they have read.
About the Reading Competition
All charter schools, school districts, and nonpublic schools are welcome to participate in the reading competitions.
Teams consist of up to 12 students from 6th to 12th grade, a team may choose to have up to two alternates.
Competition Date & Time: TBD, 2026
Location: In-Person at Philipsburg-Osceola School District, 200 Short St, Philipsburg, PA 16866. The competition will run 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Team registration begins at 4:30 PM.
Fee: $125 per team. Districts will receive an invoice after the competition has completed.
Registration Deadline: TBD, 2026 at 3:00 PM
Note:
- Registrations cannot be accepted after the deadline has passed.
- "Bookworms" will not be accepted as a team name.
- Each team MUST provide the name & email of a moderator and scorekeeper at the time of registration.
- Dinner will be provided by the CIU10.
- Parents and guests are welcome to attend.
- Students names will be displayed as entered in the registration. Certificates with misspellings will be corrected and emailed to the team advisor the week after the competition has completed.
