Elementary Reading Competition
Each spring, the CIU10 hosts a Reading Competition for elementary school students. Questions are based on a maximum of 25 age-appropriate books which the students read during the academic year. Students are given the opportunity to compete against one another, in teams, to see who can correctly answer the most questions about the books they have read.
About the Reading Competition
All charter schools, school districts, and nonpublic schools are welcome to participate in the reading competitions.
Teams consist of 6 to 12 students from 4th to 6th grade, a team may choose to have up to two alternates.
Competition Date: TBD 2027
Location and Times: State College High School, 650 Westerly Pkwy, State College, PA 16801. The competition will run 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Team registration begins at 8:00 AM. Doors will open at 8:00 AM.
Fee: $125 per team. Districts will receive an invoice after the competition has completed.
Registration Deadline: TBD at 3:00PM
Note:
- Registrations cannot be accepted after the deadline has passed.
- "Bookworms" will not be accepted as a team name.
- Each team MUST provide the name & email of a moderator and scorekeeper at the time of registration.
- There will be a 35 minute lunch break, beginning at 12:15PM. Students should bring their lunch. The CIU10 will NOT be providing lunches the day of the competition.
- Parents and guests are welcome to attend.
- Students names will be displayed as entered in the registration. Certificates with misspellings will be corrected and emailed to the team advisor the week after the competition has completed.
