• CIU PIIC Mentors work with instructional coaches to focus on increasing student engagement and improving student achievement through the implementation of the PLN framework and other evidence-based literacy strategies.

Central Intermediate Unit 10, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Institute for Instructional Coaching (PIIC) will be providing monthly network meetings for instructional coaches. Instructional Coaching Network Meetings provide coaches with the opportunity to connect with other coaches to hone in on effective coaching strategies and develop new supportive techniques for educators. This year, we will be involved in a book study of Fierce Conversations, a book that is integral for instructional coaches and leaders. In addition to monthly coaches’ meetings, coaches will be involved in embedded coaching support and professional development with the IU PIIC Coach Mentor, Diane Hubona.

Districts with coaches providing services to classrooms grades 4-12 are given the opportunity to bring a team of teachers to participate in the Penn Literacy Network free of charge. The Penn Literacy Network provides participants with graduate level instruction and the opportunity to earn 5 graduate credits, with the completion of course work.

School/District Mentor(s): The charge for these meetings is $100 for the year and includes: professional learning, materials and resources, access to Moodle and Wikispaces, and lunch.
