  • The 24® Game’s simple structure allows learners to engage quickly, and almost immediately seek out higher levels of challenge. It gives children the freedom to make mistakes without being judged. The more they play, the more they engage in deep practice, which leads to fluency in, and permanent retention of, critical math skills.

    24 Challenge® Legacy

In 1988, Robert Sun created the first edition of the 24 GAME, Single Digits, to help train young minds in the processes and patterns of mathematics. Sun’s revolutionary approach alleviates a classic brand of math anxiety—getting the right answer—and instead puts emphasis on the method behind the math. Without fear, children naturally take action, explore, think mathematically, learn, grow and build a love for math that lasts a lifetime.

The 24 Game lineup quickly expanded from one edition to nine, and a grassroots marketing strategy known as the 24 Challenge Math Program provided games to U.S. classrooms, where their universal appeal to students from diverse economic and social backgrounds made them an instant success. These tournament-style events continue to excite schools and activate entire communities today.

    24 Challenge® Math Program

The 24 Challenge® is a tournament-style competition organized around the 24® Game. Millions of students in more than 20 countries have participated since 1988.

Over a period of months preceding the event, teachers use the 24® Game in their classrooms to help students hone their mathematics skills. Then schools or districts hold local or district-wide playoffs to determine which students will advance to a Championship Event!

Offered in a tournament-style competition, students compete using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division to develop solutions to problems that equal 24. This fast, fun, exciting math game is designed for students in Grades 4-8.
