Elementary Reading Competition

Each spring, the CIU10 hosts a Reading Competition for elementary school students. Questions are based on a maximum of 25 age-appropriate books which the students read during the academic year. Students are given the opportunity to compete against one another, in teams, to see who can correctly answer the most questions about the books they have read.
About the Reading Competition
All charter schools, school districts, and nonpublic schools are welcome to participate in the reading competitions.
Teams consist of 6 to 12 students from 4th to 6th grade, a team may choose to have up to two alternates.
The reading list is available in the fall of each year.Competition Date: April 20, 2024
Location: In-Person at Bellefonte High School
Fee: $100 per team
Registration Deadline: Friday, April 5, 2024 at 3:00PMNote: Registrations cannot be accepted after the deadline has passed.
The competition will run from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Team registration begins at 8:30AM.
There will be a 35 minute lunch break, beginning at 12:15PM. Students should bring their lunch. The CIU10 will NOT be providing lunches the day of the competition.

Reading team families are invited to watch students compete.
During rounds, we ask that:
- All spectators please remain in the classrooms with doors closed until an announcement has been made to move to the next round.
- All cellphones be turned completely off
- That no pictures or videos be taken while teams compete. Pictures may be taken in the gymnasium after the competition.
